Celebrate Hot Chocolate!

It has been brought to my attention that The City Bakery is having its annual Hot Chocolate Festival, lasting the duration of February. This is big news not only because I celebrate hot chocolate whenever I have the chance, but also because they are rotating new, temporary flavors to accompany the original. Banana Peel, Beer, Milk Chocolate, Darkest Dark, and Ode to the Polar Bear are just a few of the daily specials. Like the regular, year-round hot chocolate, you can buy the special flavors in two sizes: a shot to try it out ($2), or a full-sized cup to fully commit ($4.50, or $5.00 with a marshmallow). This was helpful when deciding to try the Beer flavor, though I had nothing to worry about–it tasted like…hot chocolate. You will find me front and center on Saturday, when Caramel debuts, and again on the 24th for Sunken Treasure–very intriguing. Though not quite the same as sitting outside at Paris’s Cafe de Flore, sipping from a tiny cup of the most amazing hot chocolate EVER (above), City Bakery is not a shabby option for a quick fix.

City Bakery has the most delicious chocolate cookies. They’re almost a brownie. I’ve never been a a fan of their lunch selection, though.

The Cinnamon-Black Pepper Hot Chocolate sounds really interesting. When you’re there, say hi! to my old office (on 19th between 5th & 6th) for me!
