Massive Tub of Nutella, and Other Oddities at Chelsea Market

I had my first Chelsea Market experience last weekend, and it revealed a trove of curiousities. I had been to the building before, but only for the fantastic brunch at the Nicole Fahri restaurant, 202, housed in her boutique. Venture a bit further, and you will find a goldmine of shops, from a brownies-only bakery (Fat Witch) to a seafood shack/store (The Lobster Place) to arguably the best espresso in the city (Ninth Street Espresso). Please also note the wide selection of produce, including the oddly-shaped turban squash, above.

I bought a brioche loaf from Amy’s Bread; the taste is rich and buttery but the interior is as light as cotton candy. I also found Buon Italia to be a great source for Callebaut chocolate (I seized a hefty block of Gianduja) and cooking oils, to say nothing of the 5-kg container of Nutella fit for a giant:

The market is a fun place to spend a weekend afternoon, foraging for unique foodstuffs, finding inspiration for the night’s dinner, or just grabbing a bite after shopping in the meatpacking district.
