
A couple of weeks ago, I went by Sur La Table to restock on Kell’s vanilla extract. Much to my chagrin, they were out of stock, and unsure when more would arrive. Being that this is the only vanilla I like to use, I (feverishly) did some research. Sur La Table, the only place in New York City currently selling Kell’s (how is this possible?), will get in a new order in October, just in time for holiday baking season. Interesting, and something I had never contemplated: vanilla orders go up dramatically once the summer is over. I suppose it’s true that once there’s a chill in the air, you feel more like getting cozy with the oven and baking up treats to share.
Happily, if you contact Kell’s directly, as I did, they will gladly fill your order. Moreover, I would urge you to petition your local baking supply store to stock it.
