After a week of takeout lunches and quick, cobbled-together dinners, it truly seems like a luxury, on the weekends, to create a meal out of farm-fresh produce and freshly-baked breads. One of my favorite things to do, especially on summer weekends, is to wander through the Union Square Greenmarket, waiting for vegetables, fruits, herbs, cheeses, and more to catch my eye. Today, I grabbed yellow and red tomatoes, and basil, for a quintessentially summer-time salad.
I also had to bring home a peppery bundle of arugula, charmingly held together with twine (such a nice change from grocery-store twist-ties and rubber bands, no?). I’ll toss this with gorgonzola crumbles and sliced figs, or stir into a hot bowl of pasta dressed with olive oil and sprinkled with grated parmigiano-reggiano.
Lastly, I filled a bag with Italian plums, which I will promptly bake into a crumble.

Hey.
Sounds lush. I love to the exact same thing, except, I live in a little town in the UK, so it’s pretty hard to find any good fresh produce. But I agree, fresh produce is always so much better. Oh, and I love your blog!
